Walk to End Alzheimers

IMG_3057 copy

My friends are the best! Today 13 of us (and a baby) walked in the Alzheimer’s walk in Newport, RI today. We raised $1,600 for the cause and walked three miles. I felt great walking! My feet are a little sore, but it wasn’t as tough as I thought it might be.

We walked in honor of my dad who was diagnosed at the age of 57 (he is currently 63) and is already in the later stages of Alzheimer’s. He still knows who I am (he’s actually voiced that I’m his favorite child). But who knows if he actually knows what he’s saying. He recognizes me, my brother and my husband. But he doesn’t do well with recognizing other relatives. Thankfully he’s pretty easy going and happy.

It meant the world to me to have my friends there to walk and help raise money. I feel so blessed!
